NaBloPoMo? Uhhhh..the devil made me do it?

NaBloPoMo November 2013Am I allowed to blame the devil? I mean, I distinctly remember it not being in my best interest as a kid. But, it is Halloween and I don’t have a really good excuse for signing up for 30 days of chaos.

I’ve been having light-hearted conversations about this day for the last few weeks. I knew it was coming and I promised to dive in with a few of my blogging friends (new and old), however, I didn’t feel it until today.

Exorcism anyone?

It was as if my body was taken over by aliens (I mean…the devil). I was excited. I was all in. So much so that I committed to not only National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) but National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) as well!

And, you know what?

There was a rush and I liked it.

My Schedule’s Pretty Spooky

Now, I’ll admit there wasn’t an ounce of sanity in my decision. I honestly don’t know where I’ll find the time. For almost every weekend for more than a month now, I’ve been apart of a movie crew. In two days, it’s nothing to put in more than 24 hours.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a lot of fun helping my friends complete their first indie film and, as a writer, I love to see the words take shape but it’s also a lot of work.

In addition, I still work full-time Monday through Friday and, on every given day, traffic is interesting.

Begone Evil (Techie) Spirits

To top it all off, I haven’t blogged in awhile, I have several outlines for this book, I’m not sure what I want to do with Feedburner or my newsletter and what about Categories and Tags.

For some strange reason (poltergeist, maybe?), I think it’ll all work out. I think I needed a kickstart and what better time than now. Set yourself on fire and, at the very least, folks will show up with marshmallows!

Bubble, Bubble, Toil and Trouble

I’m tired of being on the zero side of zero to sixty and, while I don’t think sixty is a speed I can maintain, at least I’ll be moving.

So, what will you get from me while I’m flying by the seat of my britches in overcommitment? I can’t be sure but I promise it will be whatever I have to give.

Cruise control can be safe but it can also be boring. Now is as good a time as any to let the devil, aliens and all their little minions off the hook.

Time for the Holy Water (er, Truth Serum)

Here it goes…

I committed to NaBloPoMo because everytime I’ve participated in the past, I loved the me it produced. Discipline begets more discipline. And, I’m on the NaNoWriMo bandwagon again because I want to be a published author.

So there…see you on the other side, my pretties!

  1. You go, girl! So happy to be in this with you!

  2. Love this: “I committed to NaBloPoMo because everytime I’ve participated in the past, I loved the me it produced. Discipline begets more discipline. And, I’m on the NaNoWriMo bandwagon again because I want to be a published author.”

See you on the other side!

I’m in, too. I could use some discipline. I always seem to find the time to do for everyone else, but not for me. So, here goes!

Oh, and, don’t tell her I said this, but I think the devil (at least my devil) is a blonde woman from California by the name of Lois Alter Mark. LOL!

    Best of luck, Sabrina!

That’s exactly my point, Jackie! I’m all in for a worthy cause but I have to remind myself that I’m a worthy cause, too. When we step up and out, our tribe will appear. We just gotta get consistent with stepping up and out. Thanks for checking in, I’ll be over to visit soon!

  4. At least I’ll be moving. I love that.

Haha. So glad I found this post via Yeah, Write. You’re hilarious! Definitely will be following along and reading your adventures this month (and beyond! Paging Buzz Lightyear!)

    • Sabrina says:

Hey, Kim! Glad to meet you…if it weren’t for Yeah Write, right? LOL! Sounds like a great comment to say when we’re all rocking on someone’s porch. *Infinity, indeed*

  6. I signed up as well and I’m super excited about it. I have only been blogging for about 3 months and I could never sign up for the novel one. I can’t commit to finishing a novel in a month, I have to write when the muse comes and hits me over the head. When she does, oh Lord, when she does, I could write for 24 hours straight.

Welcome to the world of blogging, Michelle! I always feel like I’m starting over when I recommit. I understand what you mean about NaNo. I’ve done NaNo overdrive Month for the last two years and editing was more than I could stand. This year, my goal is to totally crush 50K but I’d like my finished product to make sense. Knowing I can’t have it all, I’ll settle for 49,999…if I must.:)

Welcome to yeah write and our humble little community. You have a great attitude to complete 30 straight days of blogging. Thanks so much for joining us and spreading the word!

  8. Laurel Regan says:

So glad you’re in on NaBloPoMo too!

  9. […] full month, just to see what happens. I read one of the posts from yesterday from Sabrina Lovejoy (The Devil Made Me Do it) . She ended the post with “everytime I’ve participated (in NaBloPoMo) in the past, I loved […]
